Green Day was up against Black Sabbath, Kings of Leon, Queens of the stone age, and The Killers for the Best Rock category at the MTV EMA and took home the award on Sunday. Unfortunately the band was not in attendance, but Billie Joe recorded a video message that was played at the event:
